Club Background

Established in 1975, Casey Comets is a community football club based in Melbourne's south eastern suburb of Cranbourne in the City of Casey (Victoria's largest and fastest growing municipality). The Club attracts players from Cranbourne, Narre Warren South, Clyde, Lynbrook, Botanic Ridge and Junction Village, as well as further afield.

Casey Comets juniors and seniors play mainly in the Football Federation Victoria (FFV) competition, however, from 2016 we have reintroduced 2 Senior Men's teams in the Bayside F.A. competition including a Masters team.

The Club has high standards; both its men's and women's teams play in State League 1.

The Club has competitive teams for boys and girls from U7s to U20s. In 2017, the Club fielded 45 teams, which included 40 junior teams. In 2017, we introduced our Shooting Stars program and our partnership with the Aurora Academy. We expect to field even more teams in 2018 to cater for demand from population growth in the area.

With the Club’s participation more than doubling in the past four years (2013-2017), our infrastructure is near capacity, so a focus on future expansion to meet the needs of the Casey football community is a high priority in our strategic plan.

The Club’s football training is delivered in an inclusive, fun, harmonious and respectful learning environment. A major intent ion of the strategic plan is to strengthen and develop the Club’s junior programs to allow players to play to the best of their abilities and maximise their potential as team mates, club members and community members.

Casey Comets is proud of its strong history in women's football. The Club was one of the inaugural clubs in the WPL. The Club is now rapidly expanding it's female program and is aiming to be the destination Club in the South East.

Casey Comets is proud to be partnered with Club Victory.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide an environment that enables our players and coaches (no matter what background, age or level) to develop and prepare for the future, both on and off the pitch.

Vision

“WE BELIEVE WE ACHIEVE”

Our vision is to be the most recognised football club in the South East in the delivery of an environment and programs for junior & senior, male & female players.

Our vision is to continue to build a football club that is both successful and sustainable on and off the pitch in a way that increases community awareness and participation through our relationships with our members, other community groups, professional organisations and our sponsors.

Core Values

Our six core values and their positive effects on our culture, play pivotal roles in our progression as a club.

VALUE NO 1 – RESPECT
Our behaviour to show respect to every person and organisation (both internally and externally) that we interact with and, in turn, to earn the respect of others for all that we do as individuals and as a Club.

VALUE NO 2 - INCLUSIVE
Our behaviour to be a Club that is welcoming to supporters and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, and is committed to positively contributing to the community.

VALUE NO 3 – PROFESSIONAL
Our behaviour to undertake every task professionally and in line with industry best practice. To be innovative, ethical and successful.

VALUE NO 4 – PROUD
Our behaviour to recognise and celebrate our history, and to behave in a manner that reflects pride in our Club and ourselves.

VALUE NO 5 – TEAMWORK
Our behaviour to work together as a group to achieve a common goal while maintaining productive relationships based on mutual respect.

VALUE NO 6 – SPORTSMANSHIP
Our behaviour to encourage competitive integrity based on fair play and always within the rules of competition, without comprising effort and persistence.

Philosophy

  • Develop well rounded young players through the appropriate football environment which teaches respect, humility, integrity, reward through effort and fair play at all times;
  • Provide an environment for every player which allows freedom of expression, creativity and allows the player to fall in love with the game;
  • Encourage our young players to express who they are through their football;
  • Provide football training which systematically develops in our players the key football attributes of technique, ball mastery, and football intelligence;
  • Encourage our coaches to facilitate player learning, rather than imposing restrictions and strict tactics on our players; Strive to constantly improve our club football knowledge base through education and employment of outstanding technicians to offer the best football learning environment to our players;
  • Encourage as a matter of policy the core football attributes of technique, ball mastery, decision making and value techniical ability above physical ability;
  • Provide an inclusive development pathway into senior football throughout the club. Encourage leadership through mentor coaching and refereeing. Encourage an appreciation for the club, its volunteers, administrators and officials. Play football with a smile.
