Small-Sided Football (SSF) is designed to encourage development in junior players with an emphasis on fun and not on the score! Casey Comets fields SSF teams in all age groups from U6 through to U11.

U10/U11 Program

(for kids born in 1999 or 2000)

In 2010, we expect to have at least three U10/U11 teams with two Kangaroos and one Joeys which are the divisional groupings set by the FFV.

Some teams will play Sunday mornings, with some playing Saturdays. If you were in a team that played on Saturdays last season, it is probable that you will also play on Saturdays in 2010.

Duration of the season: April 18th until 29th August 2010

The teams will play 9v9 in a game format of 2 x 25 minutes halves and will have a fixtured Home and Away season. All U10/U11 teams can expect to train twice per week (days and times dependent on individual coaches).

U8/9 Program

(for kids born in 2001 or 2002)

We are expecting to field three, possibly four, U8/9 teams in 2010. Our teams all play on Saturday mornings in a 7-a-side game (2 x 20 minutes halves). Each team will consist of approximately 9-10 players depending on numbers.

The competition is a 2 division program, for both Joeys and Kangaroos, which will be based on both age and ability.

Duration of the season: April 18th until 29th August 2010

U8/9 players can expect training once per week. U8/9 teams will play a full competition fixture with both Home and Away games.

U6/U7 Program

(for kids born in 2004 and 2003)

Our most junior players train and play on Saturday mornings or afternoons, depending on the availability of coaches. The entire session, including warm-up, training, and a short game should last around 90 minutes - 2 hours.

The program is primarily focused on enjoyment and skill development. The group will have a coach co-ordinator who will be responsible for organising and overseeing each session.

All Teams

Our entire club runs on the much-welcomed support of our parents and volunteers and if you are interested in coaching, becoming an assistant coach, game leader or instructing referee, please contact our SSF Co-ordinator to discuss. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and get involved. We will be providing a FREE Grass Roots Coaching certificate for anyone interested in assisting.

To assist parents, coaches, clubs and players, the FFA has produced a range of resources for anyone involved in SSF. Please let the committee know if you would like a copy of any resources, or download them from the links below:
